Cape Neddick "Nubble" Lighthouse, York, ME
Built in 1879, "Nubble" Lighthouse is built on the Cape Neddick Nubble which is a small, rocky island a short distance off the eastern point of Cape Neddick near the entrance to the York River. Placing a lighthouse on the Nubble had been recommended by many mariners since 1807 but was rejected because there were already three lighthouses in the vicinity. After the wreck of the Isidore in 1842 north of Nubble, it still took close to four more decades before the lighthouse was established. At first the lighthouse was painted reddish-brown with a fixed red light. The "Nubble Light" still has a red light, but the tower has been painted white since 1902.

"Nubble" Bottom:
Painted in authentic white and black just like the original lighthouse. Note the wonderful replication of the separation joints. Most builders only paint a line to represent this break between sections.

Example of painted lines. As you can see there is a difference.
